I am a firm believer that experience is the best teacher. In 1980, I had the opportunity to begin my career as a kitchen designer working for a custom cabinet manufacturer. Designing kitchens in the same building where the cabinets were made offered rare insight into the entire process of delivering customers the kitchen of their dreams, from start to finish. The ten years I spent designing for a premier manufacturer prepared me for other opportunities in the field, including time spent working as a designer/draftsperson for a high-end design studio.
